Kiosks for a Health Exhibit
The Challenge
The museum had health exhibition wing with many interactive kiosks. However, they were very old and constantly breaking. Also, since the old systems were DOS-based, they simply did not have the look today's museum visitor expects.
The museum needed to give the software a facelift and replace aging hardware with new parts to increase reliability.
Solution
We were responsible for upgrading several of the kiosks:
- Height/Weight - featuring ultrasonic height measurement
- Grip Strength - uses load cells to measure grip strength
- Stepper - measures the pulse resting and after activity
- Blood Pressure - uses an electronic cuff to measure blood pressure
Technical Details
A USB DAQ device was used to interface to the transducers.
The software was created with Microsoft Visual C# .NET and LabVIEW.
